Special Session on Swarm Intelligence and Applications (SIA 2011)


Since 1980s, Swarm Intelligence (SI) had been introduced in cellular robotic systems, SI has attracted lots of interests from academics and industrials to investigate the fundamentals, principles and applications of Swarm Intelligence. Swarm Intelligent has been regarded as one of effective approaches to collective computational intelligence (CCI). There are various schemes proposed and demonstrated in past decades; including Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Ant Colony System (ACS), Stochastic Diffusion Search (SDS), Bacteria Foraging (BF), WireFly algorithm (WF), Intelligent Water Drop algorithm(IWD), the Bees Algorithm, Swarm Robotics, etc. Not only the theoretical developments but also practical implementations had approved SI a paradigm of learning machines. Addition to conventional optimization problems, SI also demonstrates its promising property in the fields of decision-making, pattern recognition, communications, computer networks, control systems, financial management and data mining. Both in engineering and social sciences, SI has been recognized the ability of seeking an optimal solution in complex systems due to its collective-behaviors of distributed, self-organizing and learning particles. The exploration on the knowledge of how to organize, interact and evolve swarm particles are continuously being studied.

The special session Swarm Intelligence and Applications (SIA) aims to present new paradigms of methodology and applications in swarm intelligence. Original and unpublished contributive papers related to Swarm Intelligent are invited. The submissions should focus on either state-of-the-art works or research results with impacts to provide tutorials and technical readings for interested individuals.

  10. New Algorithms of Swarm Intelligence.

Information for authors

The submitted papers should present results of the original and unpublished research. The papers will be reviewed by the ICCCI 2011 International Program Committee. The best submissions will be selected for presentation and will be included in the conference proceedings. The conference proceedings are planned to be published and distributed by Springer-Verlag in series LNCS/LNAI. Submitted papers should be prepared in LNCS/LNAI style and should be limited to 10 pages. All papers must be submitted electronically via conference submission system.

Notification of acceptance: 30 April 2011
Camera ready papers submission: 15 May 2011
